Plan Your Visit

If you’re planning to visit during Ketchikan’s peak season (May through September), we recommend booking transportation and lodging well in advance. This is our busiest time of year, and planning ahead helps ensure you have the experience you’re hoping for.
That said, if you arrive without every detail locked in, you’re still in good hands. There are plenty of things to do in Ketchikan, and same-day tour bookings are often available through our Tour Center.

Visitors Bureau Services

Our goal is simple: to help you make the most of your time in Ketchikan. Whether you’re here for a few hours or a few weeks, our team is happy to assist with trip planning, local recommendations, and tour bookings.

We have two Visitor Services locations in downtown Ketchikan. Our main office is open year-round near Berth 2, right in the heart of downtown. During the peak season, a second visitor center operates nearby at Berth 3. Same-day tours can be booked during the summer months at our Tour Center inside the Berth 2 building.

Travel information and brochures are also available at Ketchikan International Airport and the Alaska Marine Highway ferry terminal.

What to Pack

Style is casual in Ketchikan, but preparation is essential. Our coastal climate can change quickly — a single day may bring sunshine, clouds, and rain. When packing, think comfortable, warm, and waterproof, with layers that can be added or removed as conditions shift.

Staying Connected

Surrounded by mountains and water, Ketchikan’s scenery can occasionally affect satellite reception. Fortunately, cellular service is reliable throughout much of town, and you’ll find plenty of places where staying connected is easy.
